Sheila E. Humphrey. A smiling woman with long brown and gray hair wearing earrings, a blue dress, a heart-shaped pendant necklace, and a patterned jacket, sitting on a beige textured chair with a wood-paneled wall in the background.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sheila E. Humphrey

I have been writing poetry, prose, plays, musicals, song lyrics and editing for many years. Sharing stories and ideas is one of the most fulfilling pursuits in my life.

HER STORY

Sheila’s Story

Born in Saskatchewan, my roots there are still deep. The foothills claim me now, the mountains my reference point on the western horizon. I’ve lived in four of Canada’s provinces and cherish memories from these places. What a privilege it is to live in this country.

I taught in three provinces, but enjoyed the bulk of my career in Calgary, Alberta. Although I was lucky enough to be an educator in each grade at one time or another, the focus of what I was teaching was always the fine arts.

My studies were completed at the University of Saskatchewan (B.A., B.Ed.) followed by a one-year education leave at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, where I received a post-graduate diploma in drama-in-education.

No amount of education can prepare you to be a parent, however my children have been and continue to be inspirational. The lessons of life are without number.

“

I hope readers come away with the sense that life is full of possibilities, even when it doesn’t appear that way. Single-parent families can survive and thrive!
